About Landscaper's Choice

Landscaper’s Choice has helped hundreds of landscapers, golf courses, property managers and homeowners create some of the finest landscapes in Collier County.

Ron & Kathy Torp are the founders of Landscaper’s Choice. They were born and raised in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Ron has been a member of the Collier County landscape advisory board, graduate of the IFAS Learning to Lead Program & President of the Lawn Maintenance Association (LMA) of Collier County. Kathy has worked as an office manager while earning her college degree in education from University of South Florida.

Landscaper’s Choice currently holds memberships with the Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association (FNGLA), Everglades Golf Course Superintendents Association (EGCSA), Condo Association Managers of Marco Island (CAMMI), and also the East Naples Civic Association (ENCA).

History of Landscaper's Choice

In 1988, Ron & Kathy decided to make the big move from Michigan to Naples. They purchased a small two-man landscape maintenance company called Roswell Services. In Roswell’s 13 years of operation, it employed over 25 people with sales of over $1 million dollars annually. In 1999, a national company called One Source approached the Torps to purchase Roswell Services, and the deal was made.

Then in 2000 after extensive research, Ron & Kathy decided there was an opportunity and a need for a nursery and landscape supply source in southern Collier County. They prepared a detailed business plan and presented it to their friends and colleagues in the landscape industry where it was very well received. Their idea was to use their past experiences and create a “one stop” operation that would save customers both time and money. Landscaper’s Choice then opened in October of 2000. The company has evolved into a multi-million dollar organization and it continues to grow year after year.
